Mozart and the Musical Dwarf

A vibrant, interactive theatre-concert by La Máquina Teatro, specially crafted for children aged 6 and up. Blending comedy, history, and live classical music, this 60-minute show brings Mozart vividly to life—not as a distant icon, but as a witty, passionate, and very human 22-year-old.

Inspired by a real episode from 1778, when Mozart travelled to Paris hoping for patronage but instead clashed with the prominent composer Giovanni Cambini—whom he mockingly dubbed the “musical dwarf” in a letter to his sister Nannerl—the performance unfolds through Mozart’s most beloved musical fragments, all performed live on stage. Pianist-actress Damaris Moreno delivers sparkling interpretations while embodying the spirit of the music, and actress Gretel Stuck breathes charm and authenticity into every scene. Directed by Rafa Cruz and co-created by Bálint Sánta and Bärbel Ganster (Klaviertheater), the production invites young audiences to experience Mozart not as ‘old’ or ‘boring’, but as bold, flawed, funny—and profoundly alive.

More than entertainment, it’s an invitation to listen: to discover how thrilling, tender, and joyful classical music can be when shared with heart and humour. Arrive 10–15 minutes early — and let your child hear genius, not as a statue, but as a song.
