Paris, around 1830. The opera portrays the fragile and turbulent love affairs of the 'bohemian' couples Rodolfo and Mimi, Marcello and Musetta. The tenderness of the young seamstress Mimi brings light and warmth to the poet Rodolfo. Their love is so passionate that they eagerly introduce it to their friends. Their relationship adds a melodramatic dimension, contrasting with the more humorous love story between Marcello and Musetta. All characters strive to make the most of life's final moments.
