"The ever-admirable and admired Valencian violist David Fons placed his instrumental virtuosity and expressive depth at the service of Penderecki's Viola Concerto—a work that found in the vibrant strings of his 1954 Bisiach viola an impeccable and soaring realization" (Levante).
**DAVID FONS**
One of the most outstanding violists of his generation and winner of first prizes in national and international viola competitions, David Fons studied with Vicente Ortiz, Luis Roig, Luis Llácer, Jesse Levine, and Wilfried Strehle.
He has performed with orchestras such as OSN, OCV, and Collegium Instrumentale under maestros including F. Ayo, N. Chumachenco, Y. Menuhin, V. Ashkenazy, Z. Mehta, and F. X. Roth, among others.
He has participated in numerous prominent chamber music festivals across Spain, France, and Italy as a member of Trio Acento, Palomares-Fons Duo, Trio Rebec, Viola Sings Duo, Beethoven Klavier Quartett, and as a collaborator with Ensemble de Cadaqués and V430.
As a versatile soloist, he has performed in concert halls in Zaragoza, Vigo, Lugo, Valencia, and Badajoz, collaborating with conductors and soloists such as Cristóbal Soler, Beatriz Fernández, Enrique Palomares, Jesse Levine, Vasko Vassilev, and Franco Petrachi.
In January 2019, he released his debut album "Viola Oppression," featuring the viola and piano sonatas by R. Clarke and D. Shostakovich, performed with pianist Kei Hikichi on the Orphues Classical label, receiving excellent critical acclaim.
His passion for promoting viola repertoire led to the Spanish premiere of Agustà Borgunyó’s Suite for viola and orchestra with the Orchestra of Extremadura, as well as inspiring new works dedicated to him, such as Javier Costa’s Viola and Orchestra Concerto "De soledad sonando..."
David performs on a 1954 Giacomo e Leandro Bisiach viola.
**LUIS FERNANDO PÉREZ**
His virtuosic piano technique, never lacking in the nuances of necessary freedom, transforms his performances into a rich palette of sound colours, emotional inflections, and abundant vitality—elevating audiences beyond complexity to delight them with a cornucopia of expressive intuition. "Each note is a word. One must imagine and find within oneself what one wants to say." With these words about Chopin’s work, Luis Fernando confirms the maturity long predicted by awards such as the Franz Liszt Prize (Italy), the Enrique Granados Competition in Barcelona (Alicia de Larrocha Award), and the Albeniz Medal.
Throughout his career, he has performed under conductors including JosĂ© RamĂłn Encinar, Antoni Ros Marbá, GĂĽnther Neuhold, Wilson Hernanto, Kazuki Yamada, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Peter Fraas, David Lockington, Alexis Soriano, Enrique GarcĂa Asensio, and Carlo Rizzi. He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia, OSPA, Sinfonia Varsovia, Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS), RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Kanazawa Orchestra, and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestras of Budapest and Mannheim.
Recognized as one of the foremost experts in Spanish repertoire, his recordings on the Mirare label—dedicated to Chopin, Soler, Granados, and Falla (awarded Diapason d’or and Choc of the Year by Clásica magazine)—have earned him recognition from French critics as a leading figure in the Spanish musical renaissance. His most recent recording for Mirare is entirely devoted to Rachmaninoff.
