The Elixir of Love — Gaetano Donizetti

"The Elixir of Love" tells the story of Nemorino, a peasant in love with the indifferent Adina, who enlists in the army to buy a "love elixir" from a charlatan named Dulcamara. The elixir is actually just Bordeaux wine, but it gives Nemorino the courage to act more confidently. This, combined with an unexpected inheritance, attracts other women and awakens Adina's jealousy, who finally realizes she is in love with him.
