Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theatre invites you to the vibrant and joyful ballet "Don Quixote"
One of the sunniest and most energetic productions in the classical repertoire — Ludwig Minkus's ballet "Don Quixote" — returns to the stage of the Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Based on the famous novel by Miguel de Cervantes, this production focuses on the cheerful and touching love story between Kitri, the innkeeper's daughter, and Basil, a poor barber. Their lives are unexpectedly disrupted by the wandering knight Don Quixote and his loyal squire Sancho Panza, whose comic and romantic adventures fill the performance with Spanish flair, sparkling dances, and festive spirit.
The ballet premiered with choreography by Marius Petipa on December 26, 1869, at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Today, Kyrgyz audiences will see the version by Alexander Gorsky, choreographic adaptation by Uran Sarbagishev, and artistic direction by Aizada Tumakova.
Principal roles performed by:
Begimai Iliasbekova (Kitri), Marat Sidikov (Basil), Valeriy Razuimeyko (Don Quixote), Nursultan Kadyrov (Sancho Panza), Atabek Sadyrkulov (Espada), Aidana Galieva (Queen of the Dryads).
More than 40 dancers from the theatre’s soloists and corps de ballet take part in the production.
"Don Quixote" is an explosion of energy, virtuosic variations, fiery Spanish dances, and an abundance of positive emotions for audiences of all ages.
