Fira d'Alacant Exhibition Centre: Key Venue for Events on the Costa Blanca
The Fira d’Alacant (IFR) exhibition complex, despite its name, is not located in Alicante itself but in the neighbouring city of Elche, in the province of Alicante, southeastern Spain. It is one of the main exhibition centres in the Valencia region, specifically designed for large-scale commercial, industrial, and cultural events. Opened in 2007, the complex has become a key venue for international and national exhibitions, congresses, trade fairs, and corporate events. Its modern infrastructure, convenient transport links, and extensive facilities make it a hub of business activity along the Costa Blanca coast.
Fira d’Alacant covers an area of over 100,000 m², with around 40,000 m² of enclosed exhibition halls and the rest dedicated to parking and open spaces. The complex consists of several modular pavilions, allowing flexible space configuration for events ranging from small forums to large international exhibitions. Notable recurring events include Iberflora (one of Europe’s largest plant and horticulture fairs), Expomoda (fashion and footwear), as well as agricultural, construction, and technology trade shows.
An interesting fact: Fira d’Alacant was developed as part of a regional government strategy to enhance business infrastructure and attract investment to the province of Alicante. Its location in Elche—a city renowned for shoe manufacturing and palm groves (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site)—makes the complex a strategic intersection of industry, tourism, and innovation. Thanks to its proximity to Alicante-Elche Airport and the A-7 and AP-7 motorways, the venue is easily accessible from both within Spain and across Europe.
