ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Nominated for GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® Awards
Twice Awarded by the Spanish Academy of Music

The resident symphony orchestra of the “Valencian Community Foundation — ADDA”, and also the resident orchestra of the Alicante Provincial Auditorium, ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA has rapidly become a vital force in Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra is distinguished by its unique sonic identity — a reflection of its founder and Principal Conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author-orchestra”, capable of evoking deep emotion and inspiration at every concert.

Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles with world-renowned artists alongside international projects — including its recent Asian tour (double concerts at Tokyo’s and Osaka’s Suntory Hall), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, staged productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.

The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the exceptional talent of its musicians, and strong social commitment: pedagogical and theatrical outreach activities, concerts in nursing homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its renewing spirit shines through performances of contemporary music, world premieres, and staged productions with Emilio Sagi or La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *The Creation*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Also noteworthy are the symphonic jazz project “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” and the audiovisual integral staging of Stravinsky’s ballets.

Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has earned four *Melómano de Oro* awards and multiple GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Renowned artists such as Valery Gergiev, Maria João Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and Joaquín Achúcarro have all left their mark on its stage.

With its unstoppable artistic trajectory, critics describe the orchestra as “a world-class instrument that radiates enthusiasm — possessing an energy and sound accessible to very few orchestras.” ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and its Principal Conductor Josep Vicent have become an indispensable cultural brand in their region.

His most personal projects — *Carmen* (Bizet) with Emilio Sagi, *García Lorca*, *Romeo & Juliet*, *El amor brujo*, and *Chick Corea* — have toured across several countries.

Previously, he served as Artistic Director of the APG/Xenakis Festival, Principal Conductor of the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, and Artistic and Principal Conductor of The World Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales for 15 years — touring extensively across four continents. For his humanitarian and social work in Africa and Asia, and for concerts around the world — including four appearances at Berlin Philharmonie — he was appointed Ambassador of the Culture of Peace Foundation by UNESCO Director-General Federico Mayor Zaragoza.

His crossover projects have established a distinctive style and opened new aesthetic pathways. Numerous composers have written works dedicated to him. In 2026/27, he will premiere new compositions by Tan Dun, Fazil Say, David del Puerto, Albert Guinovart, and others.

With ADDA Simfònica, he maintains an extraordinary trajectory: tours across Germany, Spain, France, and Japan (following a recent nine-concert tour including double appearances in Osaka and Tokyo, the orchestra returns to Japan in 2028).

His extensive discography is available on Deutsche Grammophon, Aria Classics, and Warner Classics. His latest album (2025) features the London Symphony Orchestra and Venezuelan cellist Gregorio Nieto; another recent release is *Brahms/Berio*, recorded with saxophonist Patrick Messina and ADDA Simfònica.

The city of Alicante has honoured him with the title “Cultural Ambassador”.
