ADDA·SYMPHONIC ALICANTE
GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominee
Twice awarded by the Spanish Academy of Music
The resident symphony orchestra of the “Valencian Community Foundation – ADDA”, and simultaneously the resident ensemble of the Alicante Provincial Auditorium, ADDA·Symphonic Alicante has rapidly become a cornerstone of Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra is distinguished by its unique sonic personality — a reflection of its founder and principal conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author orchestra”, capable of stirring emotion and inspiration at every concert.
Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles with world-renowned artists alongside international projects such as its recent Asian tour (two concerts at Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Osaka), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, staged productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.
The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the exceptional talent of its musicians, and deep social commitment: pedagogical-theatrical initiatives, concerts in nursing homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its forward-looking spirit shines through performances of contemporary music, world premieres, and stage productions with Emilio Sagi or La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *Die Schöpfung*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Standout projects include the “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” jazz-symphonic series and the audiovisual integral staging of Stravinsky’s ballets.
Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has earned four *Melómano de Oro* awards and multiple GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Renowned artists such as Valery Gergiev, Maria João Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and Joaquín Achúcarro have left their mark on its stages.
Critics describe the orchestra — propelled by its unstoppable artistic trajectory — as “a world-class instrument that transmits enthusiasm, possessing an energy and sound accessible to very few orchestras.” ADDA·Symphonic Alicante and its principal conductor Josep Vicent have become an indispensable cultural hallmark of their region.
