ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominee
Twice awarded by the Spanish Academy of Music
The resident symphony orchestra of the “Valencian Community Foundation — ADDA”, and also the resident orchestra of the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium, ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA has rapidly become a cornerstone of Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra stands out for its distinctive sonic identity — a reflection of its founder and Principal Conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author orchestra”: one capable of evoking deep emotion and inspiration at every concert.
Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles featuring world-renowned artists with international projects — including its recent Asian tour (two concerts at Tokyo and Osaka’s Suntory Hall), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, staged productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.
The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the exceptional talent of its musicians, and strong social commitment: educational and theatrical outreach programmes, concerts in care homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its forward-looking spirit is evident in performances of contemporary music, world premieres, and staged productions with Emilio Sagi and La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *The Creation*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Also notable are the jazz-symphonic project “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” and the audiovisual cycle of Stravinsky’s ballets.
Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has earned four *Melómano de Oro* awards and numerous GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Esteemed soloists such as Valery Gergiev, Maria João Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and Joaquín Achúcarro have graced its stages.
With its unstoppable artistic trajectory, critics describe the orchestra as “a world-class instrument that spreads enthusiasm — possessing an energy and sound accessible to very few orchestras”. ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and its Principal Conductor Josep Vicent have become an indispensable cultural hallmark of their region.
