ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominee
Twice awarded by the Spanish Academy of Music
The resident symphony orchestra of the “Fundació de la Comunitat Valenciana – ADDA”, and also the resident orchestra of the Auditorium of the Provincial Council of Alicante, ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA has rapidly become a vital part of Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra is distinguished by its unique sonic personality — a reflection of its founder and principal conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author orchestra”, capable of stirring emotion and inspiration at every concert.
Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles featuring world-renowned artists with international projects — including its recent Asian tour (two concerts at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and Osaka), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, staged productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.
The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the exceptional talent of its musicians, and deep social commitment: educational and theatrical initiatives, concerts in retirement homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its renewing spirit shines in performances of contemporary music, world premieres, and stage productions with Emilio Sagi or La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *Die Schöpfung*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Standout projects include the symphonic jazz tribute “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” and the full audiovisual cycle of Stravinsky’s ballets.
Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has earned four *Melómano de Oro* awards and numerous GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Renowned artists such as Valery Gergiev, Maria João Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and Joaquín Achúcarro have all graced its stages.
With its unstoppable artistic trajectory, critics describe the orchestra as “a world-class instrument that spreads enthusiasm — possessing energy and sound quality accessible to only a handful of orchestras.” ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and its principal conductor Josep Vicent have become an indispensable cultural hallmark of their region.
