ADDA·SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA ALICANTE
Nominated for GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® Awards
Twice awarded by the Spanish Academy of Music
The resident symphony orchestra of the Valencian Community Foundation — ADDA — and simultaneously the resident ensemble of the Alicante Provincial Auditorium, ADDA·SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA ALICANTE has rapidly become a vital force in Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra stands out for its distinctive sonic personality — a reflection of its founder and Principal Conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author orchestra”, capable of stirring emotion and inspiration at every concert.
Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles featuring world-renowned artists with international projects, including its recent Asian tour (two concerts at Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Osaka), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, staged productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.
The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the talent of its musicians, and deep social commitment: educational and stage-based initiatives, concerts in nursing homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its renewing spirit shines in performances of contemporary music, world premieres, and staged productions with Emilio Sagi or La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *The Creation*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Also notable are the “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” jazz-symphonic project and the audiovisual cycle of Stravinsky’s ballets.
Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has received four *Melómano de Oro* awards and multiple GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Renowned artists such as Valery Gergiev, Maria João Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and Joaquín Achúcarro have all left their mark on its stages.
With its unstoppable artistic trajectory, critics describe the orchestra as “a world-class instrument that transmits enthusiasm — possessing an energy and sound accessible to only a handful of orchestras”. ADDA·SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA ALICANTE and its Principal Conductor Josep Vicent have become an indispensable cultural brand in their region.
