ADDA·SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA ALICANTE
GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominee
Twice awarded by the Spanish Academy of Music
The resident symphonic orchestra of the “Fundació de la Comunitat Valenciana – ADDA”, and simultaneously the resident ensemble of the Auditori de la Diputació d’Alacant, ADDA·Symphonic Orchestra Alicante has rapidly become a cornerstone of Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra is distinguished by its unique sonic personality—shaped by its founder and Artistic and Principal Conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author orchestra”, capable of stirring emotion and inspiration at every concert.
Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles featuring world-renowned artists with international projects—including a recent Asian tour (two concerts at Tokyo’s and Osaka’s Suntory Hall), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música Catalana, stage productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.
The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the exceptional talent of its musicians, and deep social commitment: educational and stage-based outreach activities, concerts in retirement homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its pioneering spirit shines in performances of contemporary music, world premieres, and staged productions with Emilio Sagi or La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *Die Schöpfung*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Standout initiatives also include the symphonic jazz project “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” and the audiovisual integral staging of Stravinsky’s ballets.
Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has earned four *MelĂłmano de Oro* awards and numerous GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Renowned artists such as Valery Gergiev, Maria JoĂŁo Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and JoaquĂn AchĂşcarro have all left their mark on its stages.
With its unstoppable artistic trajectory, critics describe the orchestra as “a world-class instrument that radiates enthusiasm—with energy and sound quality accessible to only a few orchestras.” ADDA·Symphonic Orchestra Alicante and its Artistic and Principal Conductor Josep Vicent have become an indispensable cultural brand in their region.
