The resident symphony orchestra of the “Valencian Community Foundation – ADDA”, and simultaneously the resident ensemble of the Alicante Provincial Auditorium, ADDA·ALICANTE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA has rapidly become a cornerstone of Spain’s musical life since its founding in 2018. Bathed in the light of the Mediterranean coast, the orchestra stands out for its distinctive sonic personality — a reflection of its founder and Principal Conductor, Josep Vicent. It is an “author orchestra”: one capable of stirring emotion and inspiration at every concert.

Its regular season combines high-calibre symphonic cycles featuring world-renowned artists with international projects such as its recent Asian tour (dual concerts at Tokyo’s and Osaka’s Suntory Hall), the Christmas Concert at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música Catalana, staged productions at the Ljubljana and Berlioz Festivals, and upcoming debuts in Budapest and Sofia.

The orchestra innovates through stylistic versatility, the outstanding talent of its musicians, and deep social commitment: educational and theatrical initiatives, concerts in nursing homes, community centres, and hospitals. Its renewing spirit shines in interpretations of contemporary music, world premieres, and stage productions with Emilio Sagi or La Fura dels Baus (*El amor brujo*, *Carmen*, *La Bohème*, *Die Schöpfung*, *Carmina Burana*, *Pastoral for the Planet*). Also notable are its symphonic jazz project “Chick Corea Symphony Tribute” and audiovisual integrations of Stravinsky’s ballets.

Its discographic and audiovisual output (Warner Classics, Aria Classics, Parma Recordings, Discmedi, IMM Klassik) has earned four *Melómano de Oro* awards and multiple GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations. Renowned artists including Valery Gergiev, Maria João Pires, Javier Perianes, Paquito D’Rivera, Pablo Sainz-Villegas, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Denis Kozhukhin, and Joaquín Achúcarro have all left their mark on its stages.

JOSEP VICENT
Josep Vicent is Founding Artistic and Principal Conductor of ADDA Simfònica and Principal and Artistic Conductor of Argovia Philharmonic (Switzerland). Since 2014, he has maintained an extensive creative collaboration as Musical Director with La Fura dels Baus and Carlus Padrissa; since 2024, he serves as Resident Conductor of the Berlioz Festival (France); since 2015, as Associate Music Director of the Ljubljana Festival, and collaborates with Guy Caron (Cirque du Soleil).

Multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominee, he is a double winner of the Spanish Academy of Music Award. He has received the Jeunesses Musicales Prize, the “City of Valencia” Arts Prize, the Oscar Esplà Prize, the IMPORTANTES Prize from Iberian Press, the Cadena COPE Culture Prize, the MIN Award for Best Classical Album, and five *Melómano de Oro* awards.

Today, Josep Vicent is an internationally acclaimed conductor with a distinguished global career: he leads projects, recordings, tours, and programmes with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony (Miami), Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Radio Metropole Orkest, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Paris Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquestra de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Zuid-Nederland Philharmonie, Buenos Aires Philharmonic, WDR, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonie, Slovak Philharmonic, Oulu Symphony Orchestra (Finland), Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de Valencia, Milan Symphony Orchestra, La Toscanini, and national symphonies of Belgium, Chile, and Brazil — among many others.

He regularly collaborates with classical, jazz, and hybrid soloists including Pinchas Zuckerman, Fazil Say, Patrick Messina, Sainz Villegas, Paquito D’Rivera, Maria João Pires, Joe Alessi, Katia & Marielle Labèque, Joaquín Achúcarro, Kozhukhin, Floristán, Antonio Serrano, Leticia Moreno, Ramón Vargas, and Plácido Domingo.

He has led productions at prestigious theatres and festivals worldwide: Opéra de Rouen, Teatro Colón, Teatro Real (Madrid), Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), La Monnaie (Brussels) — including Manuel de Falla’s *Retablo de Maese Pedro*, performed during Spain’s tenure as European Capital of Culture — Leipzig Opera, Mariinsky Theatre, La Maestranza, and Teatro Arriaga (Massenet, Rossini, Poulenc, Montsalvatge, etc.). His most personal projects — *Carmen* (Bizet) with Emilio Sagi, García Lorca, *Romeo & Juliet*, *El amor brujo*, and *Chick Corea* — have toured multiple countries.

Previously, he was Artistic Director of the APG/Xenakis Festival, Principal Conductor of the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, and Artistic and Principal Conductor of The World Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales for 15 years — undertaking extensive tours across four continents. For his humanitarian and social work in Africa and Asia, and for his concerts worldwide — including four performances at Berlin’s Philharmonie — he was appointed Ambassador of the Culture of Peace Foundation by Dr. Federico Mayor Zaragoza (UNESCO).

His crossover projects have consolidated a distinctive aesthetic voice and opened new artistic pathways. Numerous composers have written works dedicated to him. In 2026/27, he will premiere new pieces by Tan Dun, Fazil Say, David del Puerto, Albert Guinovart, and others.

With ADDA Simfònica, he maintains an exceptional artistic trajectory — touring Germany, Spain, France, and Japan (following a recent nine-concert tour, including dual appearances in Osaka and Tokyo, he will return to Japan in 2028).

His extensive discography is available on Deutsche Grammophon, Aria Classics, and Warner Classics. His latest album (2025) features the London Symphony Orchestra and Venezuelan cellist Gregorio Nieto; another recent release is the *Brahms/Berio* album with Patrick Messina and ADDA Simfònica.

The city of Alicante has named him “Cultural Ambassador”.
