Join a thoughtful, inclusive discussion of Art on My Mind: Visual Politics, the groundbreaking 1995 essay collection by visionary Black feminist scholar, cultural critic, and educator bell hooks. Hosted by ROJO CADMIO — a dynamic reading club founded by cultural communicator Andrea Barcia — this session invites you to explore art not as a distant academic subject, but as a vital site of ethics, resistance, and everyday meaning-making.
Held at the vibrant La Nave Cultural Centre in Madrid — a hub for community-driven culture and critical pedagogy — the meeting encourages active participation: participants read the book in advance (available in Spanish and English editions) and gather to reflect collectively on hooks’ incisive critiques of elitism, whiteness, and commercialisation in the art world. Expect open dialogue, personal connections, and fresh perspectives on how visual culture shapes identity, justice, and belonging.
Free entry, but registration is required due to limited capacity. If placed on the waiting list, please check your spam folder — confirmations may land there. ROJO CADMIO is more than a book club: it’s a space where art becomes a language of empathy, equity, and collective imagination.
