Homage to Plácido Domingo — Celebrating 85 Years of a Legendary Tenor

Marking the 85th birthday of Plácido Domingo — one of the most influential and beloved tenors in operatic history — this special gala concert takes place at the historic Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. Though Maestro Domingo will not perform in person (he remains deeply engaged in mentorship and cultural advocacy in 2026), the evening is a heartfelt tribute to his extraordinary legacy. Expect iconic arias from Verdi, Puccini, Berg, and contemporary works he championed, performed by leading soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre, La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Vienna State Opera. Conducted by Tugan Sokhiev — longtime collaborator of Domingo and Artistic Director of the ‘Domingo in Russia’ Festival — the concert promises both vocal brilliance and emotional resonance. Tickets purchased via Eventbrite grant preferred seating in the first seven rows of the orchestra — offering optimal acoustics and sightlines. The evening concludes with a live address to the audience and a personal video message from Plácido Domingo himself.
