Join us for an engaging 50-minute guided tour of the temporary exhibition "Color in Art" (Coloramas) at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA). Born from the acclaimed 2025 exhibition "You Have to See It: The Autonomy of Color in Abstract Art" at the Fundación Juan March in Madrid, this iteration is made possible through close collaboration between both institutions.
All 75 works on display come from MACA’s own collections and span an impressive 76 years — from 1949 to 2025. The selection reflects the richness and diversity of the museum’s holdings (both owned and deposited), showcasing a wide range of artists, styles, techniques, and materials — from post-war Spanish abstraction and geometric modernism to cutting-edge pigment-based installations and chromatic digital experiments.
The tour will be led by a specialist from MACA’s Education Department, offering insightful commentary rooted in color theory, art history, and contemporary curatorial practice. Meet at 10:50 a.m. at the main entrance (Plaza Santa María, 3). Admission is free, but advance online registration is mandatory: invitations open two weeks before the event and are limited in number. Please reserve only if you intend to attend — unexcused absences disqualify participants from future MACA activities.
Don’t miss this vivid journey into how color shapes perception, emotion, and meaning across generations of Spanish art.
