This Valentine’s Day in Alicante celebrates love for local business! The campaign “Lo bueno lo encontrarás en el comercio local” takes place this Saturday, 14 February 2026.

Alicante City Council is launching a special Valentine’s Day initiative to support local businesses, revitalise neighbourhoods, markets, mercadillos (flea markets), and encourage shopping close to home. The campaign slogan is: “You’ll find the good stuff at local shops” (Lo bueno lo encontrarás en el comercio local).

Main events will be held this Saturday, 14 February, from 11:00 to 14:00 across eight locations in the city:

• Municipal markets (including Mercado Central, Mercado de Babel, Benalúa, Carolinas, and others)
• Mercadillos (flea markets)
• Squares: Plaza Nueva, Plaza Séneca, and Plaza de España

What’s happening on the streets and markets:

• Photo booths (fotomatóns): come as a couple, take romantic photos, and enter prize draws!
• Super prizes and raffles: dinners for two at local restaurants, products from local producers (cabassets), gift vouchers, beauty treatments, local experiences, and more
• Special opening hours for flower shops at Mercado Central: open from 7:00 to 18:00 without interruption — perfect for buying a bouquet for your loved one
• Raffle of 20 cabassets (baskets of local produce): to enter, keep your receipt from any purchase made on 14 February at an Alicante shop or café

To participate in the main raffles, simply take a photo at a fotomató on one of the designated locations, fill out a contact card, and drop it into the collection box. Winners will be selected among those who make purchases that day at local shops, markets, or hospitality venues.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to combine Valentine’s Day romance with supporting your beloved city: buy a gift at a small neighbourhood shop, pick up fresh flowers at the market, and spend quality time together on lively public squares!
