Alicante Invests in Water Infrastructure Upgrades

January 07, 2026

Alicante is investing nearly €4 million to upgrade its water infrastructure in response to drought challenges. The centerpiece of the initiative is a new 2,500 m³ reservoir at the Monte Orgegia station, tripling current storage capacity. This will ensure adequate water for park irrigation and system stability during peak demand or power outages. Aguas de Alicante is also updating facilities at EDAR Rincón de León to harness biogas and installing backup generators at critical stations like San Gabriel and Barranco de las Ovejas.
